إحياء الذكرى الـ156 لميلاد الزعيم الهندي

احيت السفارة الهندية في بيروت حفل إحياء الذكرى الـ156 لميلاد الزعيم الهندي المهاتما غاندي واليوم الدولي للاعنف في مقر السفارة بحضور راق من الدبلوماسيين والمثقفين والاعلاميين ورجال الفكر حيث اجتمعت القلوب حول قيم السلام والمحبة التي خلدها غاندي 

وكانت كلمات اشادت لكل من السفير الهندي بالذكرى وبالدور الذي لعبه الزعيم الهندي والانجازات التي تحققت وشعاره 

اللاعنف وما احوجنا اليوم في زمن الازمات والحروب المتلاحقة 

الى السلام الحقيقي القائم على 

العدالة بين الشعوب ..

 On the occasion of the 156th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and the International Day of Non-Violence, the Embassy of India in Beirut paid a heartfelt tribute to the Father of the Nation. Floral offerings were made at the bust of Mahatma Gandhi, led by H.E. Noor Rahman Sheikh, Ambassador of India to Lebanon, along with participants, Embassy officials and members of the Indian community. The event featured speeches by Ambassador Sheikh and other distinguished dignitaries including Dr Ogarit Younan - Jamnalal Bajaj Peace and International Understanding Awardee, renowned Artist/poet & Museum of Caves curator Gandhy Bou Diab and Dr Fawzi Bitar of the Eastern Civilizations Dialogue, reflecting on Gandhiji’s timeless values and their continued relevance in today’s world. 


A brief documentary on the life of Mahatma Gandhi and his use of Non-Violence as a means of resistance was also screened for the attendees. Ms. Maria Mattar, Lebanese singer sang the National Anthems of Lebanon and India and Mahatma Gandhi's favourite Bhajan "Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram".


A photo exhibition showcasing the life of Mahatma Gandhi was also mounted. 

The event was attended by senior Lebanese officials including DG Ministry of Information & CEO Tele Liban Ms Elissar Naddaf, Representative of MP Taymour Jumlatt, members of diplomatic corps, Academia and many other prominent friends of India and Diaspora.
